Degree Certificate Translation

Degree certificate translation is essential if you are applying to study in the UK having previously studied in a non-English speaking country. You may also need to provide a translation to apply for a job in the United Kingdom or overseas.

If your original degree certificate, academic transcript or other educational documents are not in English, you must usually submit an officially certified translation to the educational institution or university.

Who can provide me with a certified translation?

Your certified translation can be provided by:

  • A sworn translator (a translator sworn before a court in Europe (non-UK jurisdiction)
  • A qualified member (MITI) or Fellow (FITI) of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI)
  • A member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL)

However, you should ALWAYS check the requirements of degree certificate and transcript translation with the university/academic institution.

The translation must usually be accompanied by:

  • A statement of truth from the translator confirming that it is an accurate translation of the original document
  • The date of the translation
  • The full name and signature of the translator
  • The translator’s contact details

Again, these are the broad requirements and specificities should be checked with the university/educational body.
